On September 21, 2007, the United Nations International Day of Peace, His Holiness Paramhans Swami Maheshwaranandaji planted a World Peace Tree and inaugurated a Peace Memorial Stone in a beautiful park in Vienna, Austria. Prayers for world peace were extended by the religious representatives and by the numerous participants from various countries of Europe and from Australia.
To mark the auspicious occasion of the first International Day of Non-Violence as declared by the United Nations, the Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council under the patronage of its founder His Holiness Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda honoured the Satyagraha legacy of Mahatma Gandhi by holding a Gandhi Jayanti in Austria's capital Vienna festival hall at Karl-Borromaus-Plaz.
The 6th annual World Peace Summit under the auspices of the Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council, in cooperation with the Slovak Yoga Union took place in Bratislava, on October 5-7. The World Peace Summits are an annual event that journey around the world to raise global awareness, as well as spiritual, social and political resolve to secure lasting world peace and to demonstrate mutual respect and understanding. Many participants and dignitaries came from around the globe.
On October 11, 2007, in the 12th century monastery of Pedralbes a unique event took place with the Inter-Religious gathering of spiritual leaders from Barcelona/Spain. This meeting was organized by UNESCO of Catalonia as part of an initiative to cultivate a culture of peace between religions and to demonstrate the possibility of unity in diversity. Although most of the faith representatives were from the local region, representing India and Sat Sanatan Dharma, was His Holiness Vishwaguru Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda.
